Police Impound Storage Calculation

Storage begins on the same day the vehicle is impounded.

After‑Hours, Weekend, and Holiday Impounds — Initial storage fees are calculated based on the Police Department (PD) release date, up through the next business day.

Example – After‑Hours Tuesday Evening Tow: A vehicle impounded at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and released by the PD before midnight on Tuesday will incur one day of storage. If the PD release is dated Wednesday, then two days of storage will accrue. Exception 12 hour DUI hold

Example – Weekend Tow:

A vehicle impounded at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and released by the PD before midnight on Saturday will incur one day of storage. A PD release dated Sunday will incur two days of storage. A PD release dated Monday will incur three days of storage.

  • Critical Deadline: All vehicles must be retrieved on the next open business day. If the vehicle is not picked up by that time, full storage fees will be charged for the entire duration of the impound, regardless of the PD release date.
